Interview

Handle: Laxity

How did you come up with your alias ?
I came up with my handle right after I joined WIZAX 2004 back in 1986. We were gonna release our first demo with my music.. ("3545" I believe it was called !). I was called by another member of WIZAX, who wanted to know what he should write in the credits .. So I took the dictionary, to look for words I found good.. Before that I was thinking of calling myself SYNTH, but I found LAXITY to be a nice word.. Never the less I told him to call me SYNTH, so I was credited as SYNTH in "3545".. But I changed my mind right the day after, and in the mean time the demo was finished, and send of to our contacts. So the first demo I made music for I was credited as SYNTH, but ever after that, I've been LAXITY.!

City / Country:
I'm from Vejen in Denmark.. (But living in OSLO at the time being)

Born year:
1973

What was your first computer, and when did you get it?
My first computer was a commodore VIC20, which I got in 1984 or 85 (I don't really remember !)

How did you get into the scene and what groups have you been a member of ?
I got into the scene, by bying games of a swapper from WIZAX 2004 through the newspaper. He was interested in what I was coding, and I send of some code I made, and some music in Rob Hubbard player .. (Hi, Rob :) .. And they were interested in having a musician in their group, which was pretty uncommon at that time, so I joined.. After that I've been in ZETREX 2005 (An outbreak group of WIZAX 2004 ..!), 2000 A.D., STARION and then a lot around other groups, without really doing anything for them !.. (Bonzai, Crest etc..)

What was the proudest moment in your career ?
Pretty difficult to answer... Hmm.. I think the proudest moment of my computer career is the first time I was IRC'ing on the C-64 channel, when people told me, I am a legend on the 64... This is at the same time very flattering and strange.. I've been out of the 64 scene for now almost 4 years, and I'm still remembered..! That's pretty amazing I think... (Especially when I hear all the music I made on the 64.. !.)..

For what specific reason(s) do you think that you are remembered ?
You tell me.. Maybe because I was along the pioneers of demo music on the 64. When I started making music on the 64, most groups ripped music from games and we didn't. I don't know.. !.. I can only guess..

What would you like to be remembered for ?
For having done something, a lot of people enjoyed listening to !

What made you stop the scene activity ? (and do you remember when?)
The prospects of playing keyboards in a band... To go and search for my voice in music, through playing..

Thinking back on the good old days, is there anything you regret?
Only that my mom and dad never gave me a piano when I was little.. I wanted it so much, but they wouldn't let me have.. "It's too noisy !"
