Interview

Handle: Control

How did you come up with your alias ?
I had a sticker of a F2 (Fun & Function) sailboard which read: 'Power CONTROL' and you have the CONTROL button on the C64 keyboard. I felt that CONTROL was a cool handle and therefore I chose that as my handle.

City / Country:
Sandnes/NORWAY

Born year:
1973

What was your first computer, and when did you get it?
My first computer was a Philips G7000 (or something like that). The first computer I started programming was an Oric 1 (Basic - programming), the Oric belonged to a friend of mine whos handle was Unix.

How did you get into the scene and what groups have you been a member of ?
I arranged a small local copyparty where I met Trantor and Adept and some other members of SHAPE. Two of the SHAPE members taught me Assembly on the C64.

Goups I have been a member of:
The Golden Triangle (C64)
Impulse (C64)
SHAPE (C64)
Reflex (C64)
Beyond Force (C64)
Offence (C64)

What was the proudest moment in your career ?
At a point in my career I entered a Top 10 Programmers chart in a German Magazine. I ended up at the fourth or fifth (can't remember) place. This was a really great moment for me. And when I was a member of Beyond Force we got high rankings in democompetitions on several copyparties.

For what specific reason(s) do you think that you are remembered ?
I hope I'm remebered for cool designed and good programmed demoparts.

What made you stop the scene activity ? (and do you remember when?)
The C64 scene died, I think that the C64 is pushed to the limit of what it's capable of, and therfore old C64 freaks moved on.

Thinking back on the good old days, is there anything you regret?
I don't regret anything, it was the most fun time in my life!!
