Interview

Handle: SURFER of ACTIVE

How did you come up with your alias ?
I thought Silver Surfer was the coolest guy around when I started to use my C64 in a more professional way, so I snatched the second half and kept it ever since. Unfortunately, the net and the "cool" expression, surfing the net kinda made my handle useless, unless I want to be picked on and laughed at ofcourse. So, Surfer will only be used on the C64.

City / Country:
Stockholm (Sweden) nowdays

Born year:
Yes, I am sure of that, pretty sure, almost positive...

What was your first computer, and when did you get it?
C64, bought it cheap for 2600 Sek, which really was 1000 Sek under the recommended retail price those days. I would probably be able to get 400 together with the disk drive today, but it’s for sure the best buy I’ve done so far. A prostitute on Sunset wouldn’t be able to give me more pleasure!!

How did you get into the scene and what groups have you been a member of ?
The way to get the hottest games was to swap, so, so I did. My first group was founded by myself, The New Generation, and had two members, Hitman and Speedy. After a while I noticed that I was the only guy dedicated and with the drive to become something on the scene. So I called Stripe, ex founder of Crackforce Omega and asked him if we should start up the group again, and so we did. Within a couple of months with empty promises, I kicked him and pretty much was the only member of CFO till Dexter joined. Now we where to guys that really had no business being CFO’ers as Stripe was out, so after a couple of months we changed our name to ACTIVE on first of May 1989 and that’s our name up to this date.

What was the proudest moment in your career ?
I don’t really know, but probably when CFO was on every greetings list there was. We really kicked ass with all those HQ fast releases. And every time we ended up on a REAL legends list I gave away more ultra violet light than the sun.

For what specific reason(s) do you think that you are remembered ?
As one of the better leaders, I’ve been able to keep the group going for seven years without any problems, can any of the German groups say the same. They seem to split up every second month, Active is all about friendship. Well, back to the question, I believe that no one ever will forget about our world famous true legendary T-shirt, Active the girls’ number one and so on, ‘cause everybody loves it. Even our worst competitors bought them. You can get them for $12.

What made you stop the scene activity ? (and do you remember when?)
Hello, when did I stop, I haven’t! Even if you’re away for a while, your heart is always, forever, attached to the good ol’ machine. So every now and then I pollute the scene with a few releases.

Thinking back on the good old days, is there anything you regret?
Yeah, why didn’t I hit on Anna Sundén. I really wish I did, oh, you ment the scene.. In that case, no!

EVENT(S) (E.G. COPYPARTY)
Sure as hell ain’t Tomerup, freaking Danish organizers

MEMORY(S)
Back to Tomerup again. The party was a disaster. It was supposed to be in a big place and when we got there it was in a small cabin for maximum 50 people. So we where more then pissed. The organizers changed place and it wasn’t much bigger. Sleeping quarters, don’t think so. So they guided some of us to a small farm nearby where they asked if we could sleep in the barn! So me, Matrix/Dominators and some other guys stayed there. The first hard part was the floor, ice cold cement, and I only had a sleeping bag. I tossed turned and used profanities all night, then at 5 AM a freaking rooster started to do his "cock-a-doodle-doo" routine and kept it up for two hours. Man I was in a bad mode, I actually went home later that day, just because I was pissed.

DRINK ?
Coke, milk, chocolate milk. In that order.

What are you doing nowadays ?
Nowdays: I am a brilliant, hard facts, marketing person for an American film company. So I do all kind of marketing stunts to hype the movie and therefore boost box office figures here in Sweden. Hopefully I will be able to work in USA a while, or simply be a VJ or something for a MTV alike. Come on guys, hire me, I want groupies!

What are you doing on your spare time?
Outrun girls, they’re always after me. Shit happens when your lethaly charming, and not to forget drop dead gorgeous... Further more, I totally love movies, probably watch 5 - 10 a week, play videogames, rollerblade when it’s possible. We have this long winter here you know.

What is the meaning of life?
Have fun, you’re only here for a while, so make the best of it. And whatever you do, don’t grow up to fast, always stay a kid at hart! As I always say when it comes to situations that might make consecvenses, "it’s better to have tried and failed, then never tried at all".
